A Bikram Yoga mat is specially designed for Bikram Yoga as it involves usage of heat which causes many people to sweat. Yoga is done in a room with a temperature of 40.5 degree Celsius. It allows for smooth movement. This yoga releases a lot of sweat and can make a normal mat slippery. Thus a bikram yoga mat is designed to provide friction even when it becomes damp with sweat.
Depending on the person, the mat may be thick to provide more cushion or thin to provide a firm grip. Mats come in various colours and patterns. Bikram mats are made of natural materials like bamboo and cotton and thus do not cause any damage to environment. A Bikram Yoga rug also may be used. All the rugs and mats should be washable to keep it in good condition. A Bikram Yoga mat provides extra amount of padding. It absorbs sweat and locks it up without allowing it to get on the floor.
It is sticky to give a good grip with palms, fingers, toes and soles. It is 30-inches wide, wider than other mats. As they are lightweight they are easy to carry. Even tall people can use this mat as it is longer than other mats. Putting a towel on top of the mat is preferred if you do not use a Bikram Yoga mat. Bikram yoga works effectively when done on these mats. It provides comfort while practising yoga and it is convenient for practising all the poses. It is easily washable dries quickly so will be ready to use again for your next session.
