Bikram Yoga Positions – The Half Moon Pose

Bikram yoga is a type of yoga invented by bikram choudhury. It comprises of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercise that is practiced in a room with its temperature raised to 40.5 degree Celsius and with a humidity of 40%. The heat warms up the tissues in body and thus makes it easy to stretch.

Each pose is done twice and help for a certain period of time. It includes bends and twists. In presence of heat, the body becomes more flexible and thus can perform difficult poses. It reduces risk of injuries accelerates sweating and toxin production in body. BIKRAM YOGA focuses both on muscles and internal organs. It strengthens muscles, joints, ligaments, spine and acts on internal organs like glands and nervous system.

Half Moon Pose –One example being Ardha chandrasana( Ardha- half, Chandra- moon, asana- yoga posture) :

Step 1 – stand straight

Step 2 – touch the ground with left hand by bending your body and raise the right leg so that it is perpendicular to left leg.

Step 3 – raise your right hand making a vertical line along with the left hand.

And that’s it for the Half Moon Pose. It takes a bit of practice and keeping your balance may take a while at first but keep at it.
