Yoga is done conveniently and comfortably when Bikram Yoga clothing is worn. Though it may not be important, it still gives a pleasant feeling. Wearing Yoga clothes will prevent you from feeling restricted. Loose clothing is comfortable for movement.

Bikram Yoga CLOTHING FOR MEN – Shorts without pockets is preferred as its better not to carry anything while doing yoga. Wear cotton shirts that are lightweight and absorb moisture from the body. They should not be too tight. The clothing should satisfy 3 components – breathable fabrics, comfort, and versatility. Sustainable materials like organic cotton and other eco source product like bamboo, soy are also used. Pants are not recommended to wear during yoga as it does not allow the generated heat to go outside and does not oxygenate the body. Thus minimum clothes are preferred. Bikram’s yoga makes use of heat so shorts are preferred.

Bikram Yoga Clothing For Women – Try to bring out your character, for example a nature lover may want clothes with flowers printed all over it. Choose your yoga clothes very carefully as it reflects one’s personality. You must like what you wear as it increases self confidence and adds to ease of practicing yoga. Tank tops, leotards, unitards, shorts are mostly preferred clothing for women. T shirts are not recommended as they interrupt the perfection of poses.

In addition to clothing, individuals should bring water bottle as the room is maintained at temperature of 40.5 degree Celsius. They should also bring a towel to cover the yoga mat and a small towel to wipe the face.

A Bikram Yoga mat is specially designed for Bikram Yoga as it involves usage of heat which causes many people to sweat. Yoga is done in a room with a temperature of 40.5 degree Celsius. It allows for smooth movement. This yoga releases a lot of sweat and can make a normal mat slippery. Thus a bikram yoga mat is designed to provide friction even when it becomes damp with sweat.

Depending on the person, the mat may be thick to provide more cushion or thin to provide a firm grip. Mats come in various colours and patterns. Bikram mats are made of natural materials like bamboo and cotton and thus do not cause any damage to environment. A Bikram Yoga rug also may be used. All the rugs and mats should be washable to keep it in good condition. A Bikram Yoga mat provides extra amount of padding. It absorbs sweat and locks it up without allowing it to get on the floor.

It is sticky to give a good grip with palms, fingers, toes and soles. It is 30-inches wide, wider than other mats. As they are lightweight they are easy to carry. Even tall people can use this mat as it is longer than other mats. Putting a towel on top of the mat is preferred if you do not use a Bikram Yoga mat. Bikram yoga works effectively when done on these mats. It provides comfort while practising yoga and it is convenient for practising all the poses. It is easily washable dries quickly so will be ready to use again for your next session.

Hot Bikram Yoga uses concept of heat for performing yoga. The idea of bringing in heat into yoga process was invented by Bikram choudhury. Hot yoga is a set of 26 poses and 2 breathing exercises. Each yoga posture is performed twice in a 90 minute class. It is performed in a heated room. Heat allows flexibility in movement of joints, muscles, ligaments etc. It burns fat more effectively.

The temperature maintained in the room is around 40.5 degrees Celsius. Heat warms up the body tissues and makes it easier for stretching. Thus it accelerates the benefit of yoga practice. The more moisture in the room the more you sweat. Sweating is beneficial in many ways. It removes the dirt and other foreign particles from your body and skin. The more you sweat the more hungry you become and thus the diet also improves.

The room used for performing hot yoga is thermostatically controlled so that the temperature doesn’t increase. In dry conditions, steam vaporiser is used to ensure correct humidity. Thus there is no risk of unhealthy conditions in the room. Bikram yoga works well for both beginners and advanced students. This concept of heat accelerates the release of deficient enzymes and hormones.

Heat during pranayama plays an important role. As you take in hot air the minute bacteria in the wind pipe etc are killed and thus protect you from many diseases. It prepares you mentally and physically for meditation. It increases concentration level. Thus the concept of heat works effectively in yoga and pranayama.

A Bikram yoga video will tell you how to perform the yoga poses and what you should watch out for. You will see the poses being performed by trained proffessionals or yogis. A typical class is quite hot, around 105°F and people will be sweating a lot during the length of the class. 26 postures are performed in sequence. One can get a Bikram yoga video and practise during hot season or practice in a heated room. The sweating aspect of this yoga makes the stretching more effective, among other things.

The video or class will clearly shows each and every step practised slowly. There is loss of potassium, sodium, etc from body after doing yoga for 90 minutes in a heated room, so one should drink lots of water to compensate the loss.

A Bikram yoga video or class shows people of all age groups doing yoga. It is advisable to take a towel to put over the mat and a small towel to wipe your face as you will be sweating quite profusely. Sweating is proved to be beneficial as it helps to release toxins from the body. People wear typical yoga clothes to do all the poses perfectly and comfortably. They fit perfectly, not tight and not loose. Most of them wear shorts and tank tops.

Thus the video shows working process of a typical Bikraim yoga class starting from the clothes they wear to the angle of bending of body. One can easily learn Bakrim yoga through the video and can benefit from it.
