I am been practicing Ananda Yoga but recently started Kundalini Yoga, is it beneficial to practice both?

These two types of Yoga are so different, is it beneficial to do both or do you focus on only one? Kundalini is far more aggressive in it’s physical approach but also has more chanting. Very different from Hatha Yoga! But I enjoy both approaches.

www.MyYogaOnline.com The emphasis in this hatha class is on asanas involving twisting postures and movements. Twists release tension in the spine and increase shoulder and hip mobility, thus help to create structural balance. Twists stretch and open back muscles, and in this way are great for relieving backaches. Twists rejuvenate and revitalize internal organs and glands, keeping these important systems of the body healthy and balanced. Yoga Postures include Navasana , Sukhasana. The kundalini yoga that awakens the kundalini energy is supposed to be done in specified positions. It has various poses and each posture is designed to stimulate glands, organs and prepares the mind for meditation. The most common poses for meditation are

SUKHASANA – cross the legs and sit down on a mat. Keep your palms on the knee with elbow being straight. Press your lower spine to keep the torso straight. It is an easy pose.

SIDDHASANA – press the right heel against the perineum, sole against left thigh. Left heel is placed on top of the right heel. Knees should be on the ground with heels one above the other. This is the most comfortable asana and promotes psychic power. It is the perfect pose.

PADMASANA – Lift left foot onto upper the right thigh, then place right foot on top of left thigh as close to the body as possible, this locked-in posture enhances deep meditation. The right leg is always kept on top.though it seems tough it is easier to do.

VAJRASANA – It is also called the ‘rock pose’. Kneel down and sit on heels such that the heels press the nerves in centre of buttocks. It is called rock pose as it enables one to digest rocks.

CELIBATE – kneel down and sit between the two feet and this posture is believed to channel sexual energy up the spine. Thus the buttocks and both feet are on the ground in this pose. It is also called as hero pose.
